"My art is about existentialism, drama, when a human being is isolated from the outer world."

Hayk Grigoryan

Hayk Grigoryan is a multifaceted artist whose works transcend boundaries, seamlessly blending abstraction, postmodernism, figurative expression, and neo-realism. Born out of the tumultuous times of a global pandemic and war, Grigoryan’s artistic journey is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of creativity to transform adversity into artistic expression.

During the isolation and uncertainty of those challenging times, Grigoryan discovered a new artistic outlet, with paper and gouache becoming his canvases for self-discovery. The stillness of life paradoxically ignited a creative awakening, and within the span of a prolific period, he produced over 150 captivating canvases.

Grigoryan’s artworks are akin to his musical compositions – vibrant improvisations that strike a delicate emotional balance, punctuated by rhythmic and stormy transitions, and presented with intelligent and thought-provoking intention. With a trumpet in one hand and a brush in the other, he re-creates colorful melodies, crystallizing reality through his unique artistic lens.

His works effortlessly traverse multiple genres, from abstraction to postmodernism, figurative to expressive, and neo-realism, defying conventional boundaries and challenging the viewer’s perceptions. Each canvas is a visual symphony, inviting the audience to embark on a journey of self-reflection and emotional resonance.

Grigoryan’s artistic versatility and his ability to seamlessly blend music and visual art make him a truly unique voice in the contemporary art world. His works, now part of the permanent collection at the Yerevan Modern Art Museum, serve as a testament to the power of artistic expression to transcend adversity and inspire hope in even the darkest of times.
